On a muggy summer evening somewhere down in the Alabama Delta, Kendra and Betty troll the flats looking for redfish. Six years into their relationship, tensions and passions flare as the couple clash over past infidelities, life-choices, and job struggles. When their motor breaks, stranding them in open water under darkening skies, the couple are forced to grapple with the growing space between them and where their life together will go next. Runs Thursdays through Sundays.

Celebrating their 20th anniversary in 2019, 2nd Story draws on their core values of inclusion, craft, and courage to curate an evening of storytelling and live music that will spark conversation and connection. Each evening will feature seasoned storytellers from 2nd Story’s community of artists, as well as a handful of special guests, sharing stories from the history of Theater on the Lake. Doors at 6:30. Collaboraction presents the world premiere of Gender Breakdown, a compilation theater piece devised in response to the lack of gender equality on and offstage. Eleven female identified performers and an all-female design and production team weave together stories from conversations with over 220 theatre artists about what it really means to be a female theatre artist in Chicago. In doing so, Gender Breakdown explores the issues of misogyny, gender phobia, and racism and these absurd, uncomfortable, and gut punching stories will change your perception of what's behind the stage curtain.
